We've made a code change in the two main assignment servers (assign.stanford.edu & assign2.stanford.edu -- but no the PS3 or GPU AS's) to handle a potential problem people have been having with getting through firewalls.
For those who are very experienced with running FAH (eg are familiar with the logs and how to interpret them): If you have had problems in the past with your firewall, could you now try again and see if you can get a server assignment? You likely won't be able to get to the server itself (we've just updated the AS code), but just knowing that this fix helped will let me know what we should update all of the work servers ASAP.
If everything was working fine, but now it isn't, please make a post in the forum: http://foldingforum.org

Does this have anything to do with why my Linux computers are getting a1 core WUs instead of their usual a2 core units?

I don't know about others, but my FAH has been unsuccessfully working away at trying to get another work packet. All the log shows is;
[15:37:58] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[15:37:58] + Attempting to get work packet
[15:37:58] - Connecting to assignment server
[15:38:04] - Successful: assigned to (0.0.0.0).
[15:38:04] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home
[15:38:04] Work Unit has an invalid address.
[15:38:04] - Error: Attempt #1 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
[15:38:20] + Attempting to get work packet
[15:38:24] - Connecting to assignment server
[15:38:24] - Successful: assigned to (0.0.0.0).
[15:38:24] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home
[15:38:24] Work Unit has an invalid address..
And it continues to repeat itself. Please let me know what I need to do to get it going again. Thanks much!
